Darrell Calvillo is an open class solo competitor, band leader, Western United States Pipe Band Association Adjudicator, musical arranger, studio musician, educator, and proprietor of DC Music with over twenty years of professional experience in the music industry. He is a member of Celtic/World band Silent Planet and also performs as a guest artist with various bands and ensembles such as The Chieftains, Breabach, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and the Blue Man Group. In the realm of competition pipe bands, Darrell is currently a member of the Prince Charles Pipe Band of San Francisco and has previously competed with competition bands in every grade. Committal Services at Los Angeles National Cemetery
Darrell Calvillo is of Southern California's finest bagpipers and is based locally to Los Angeles National Cemetery. Darrell specializes in honoring Veterans and has been playing bagpipes regularly at Los Angeles National Cemetery since 2002.
Committal Services are in a prescribed format. On the day, the family and guests meet in staging areas near the cemetery entrance on Nobel Dr. A representative from the cemetery escorts the family and guests together in a procession to one of the Committal Shelters. Services are not held graveside.
The Committal Services are limited to 30 minutes. The first part of the service is reserved for military honors. This typically takes 10-15 minutes. At the conclusion of the military honors, the remaining time can be used by the family in any manner of their choosing. Often this is a time for religious service, eulogy, or personal reflection.
