Darrell Calvillo is of Southern California's finest bagpipers and is based locally to Riverside National Cemetery. Darrell specializes in honoring Veterans and has been performing regularly at Riverside National Cemetery since 2002.
Committal Services at Riverside National Cemetery Founded in 1976, Riverside National Cemetery is the busiest and third largest of the National Cemeteries. Committal Services are in a prescribed format. On the day, the family and guests meet in the staging area corteges in the rear of the cemetery. Please check in at the Information Booth at the entrance of the cemetery off Van Buren Blvd to find out which staging area you are in (numbers 1-8). A representative from the cemetery escorts the family and guests together in a procession to one of the Committal Shelters. Services are not held graveside. The Committal Services are limited to 30 minutes. The first part of the service is reserved for military honors. This typically takes 10-15 minutes. At the conclusion of the military honors, the remaining time can be used by the family in any manner of their choosing. Often this is a time for religious service, eulogy, or personal reflection.
